Mission-Based Leadership

My name is Mingjie Zhai, founder of The Love Story Media, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to inspire the broken hearted to transform one’s life tragedy into a divine comedy and this entire journey is called, “The Love Story.”

I have produced two interactive augmented reality diaries with our partner Live Portrait and a team of Love Story Creatives.

I have written two self-help books that are now the foundational textbooks to a growing creative journaling program and community—The Producer’s Playbook and The Love Story Playbook. I have also written my own fictional diary that reflects the tragedy and today I am journaling my divine traumedy.

I am an award-winning educator with a Masters degree in Secondary Education with over a decade of private, public, and charter school teaching, a former speech & debate coach, and now a multimedia storyteller.

For the past five years, I’ve been interviewing artists on how they have transcended from the stigma of “mental health” by wearing their heart on their sleeves through the creative expressions of their craft—music, painting, poetry, entrepreneurship, and more.

Inspired by artist interviews, I’ve developed a journaling program that aligns with Carl Jung’s shadow work, Freud’s id, ego, and superego of the conscious and subconscious mind, the seven chakras of the mind, heart, and spirit, and the seven transformations of Jesus’ miracles, to journal through the lens of disassociating to reassociate the pieces of our narrative, inspired by other people’s narrative is the bread and butter of our organization’s mission to help people transform pain into purpose.

As a Journal-Artist, our aim is to journal tell our life experiences in fiction, based on a true story, and in the process of journaling our past, we will stay present to the silver lining and blessings of the present, so that we may aim for the best version of ourselves in the future, anchored through the process of discovering our purpose in our suffering.
