The Hero’s Journey is inspired by Joseph Campbell’s The Power of Myth (and New York, since I’m at Kakigori, in NY, writing this).
Do you remember what the nightly news was a few days past?
That’s what I thought.
I can’t even remember what I ate two dinners before.
But I still remember The Odyssey, Animal Farm, and The Three Little Pigs.
That’s the power of myth.
It’s also in the name of love, because if you’re a hope less and hope ful romantic like me, you believe in the character arch.
And that’s what The Hero’s Journey is all about. You are the hero in your own three act love story. Because the ultimate mission in our higher walk is to discover true love.
The best definition I’ve found of Love is
Love is in 1 Corinthians 13.
The mystery of love is esoterically hidden in verse 12:
12 For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
The id is the “I would” if I could. According to Freud, the “Id” is the beast inside all of us–it’s sex and aggression rawness.
The “Dark Side” of the moon [Cue in Pink Floyd], the Ying energy [Moon and Daughter Symbology], and the “Know in Part” in Verse 12.
I write in this voice when I am highly charged, emotional, hurt, angry and irritated (which is often the case), yet I rarely publish my journal entries publically in the first person because they are unfiltered through the Victim and Judge voice (reference The Four Agreement by Don Miguel Ruiz).
But now that I have a creative outlet….so fuck it, let me express that which I have suppressed.
Reveal truth in illusion’s territory so you can trap illusion in illusion— in Fiction.
Great artists have been doing this for eons.
I didn’t invent any of this. It’s just the natural laws…like breath, gravity, and elements on the periodic table.
When people say, “Keep it 100,” they mean this unfiltered honesty.
It’s often the truth that cuts through the illusion.
Use this power when you are ready to face your pain.
#Rage #Anger #Resentment #Hurt #Pain
The Id energies are
yellow, orange, and red;
Solar, Sacral and Base Chakras;
Anger, Desire, and Fear.
The Ego is the great mediator between the Id and the Superego.
The Ego takes the reality of where we are and comes up with strategies to appease both the id and the superego.
It is Yang energy (Sun/Son symbology).
The Ego is where the great battle within lies. It is constantly wavering between love and the absence of it.
4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.
I write in this voice when I am making sense of my self, others, life, leveraging signs and synchronicities from the supernatural, and lessons and learnings in my hero’s journey.
The Ego is in constant battle between being in love (1) or being in the absence of it (0).
You could look at this as:
“to be” (binary code 1)
“not to be” (binary code 0).
That is the question.
That is the hero’s quest.
The heart chakra is LOVE.
The Superego is Holy Trinity.
“Holy, Holy, Holy.”
It is the Holy Ghost, the Son, the Father.
It is the Throat, Third Eye, and Crown Chakras.
It the rooted in Communication, Insight, and Power of Consciousness.
The Superego is the sun and the moon, two sides to the same coin, the unification of the splits, and in Chinese, when the sun and the moon is combined, it hieroglyphically and pictorially illustrates “illumination,” or “Ming,“ the illuminated one.
The Third Person Voice is also known as the third “I,” the pineal gland in full openness, the “We,” “Us,” with the ability to insightfully know the good, bad and ugly in all of us and still, love without judgement.
Tapping into this chakra is journey we all aspire to open all our chakras.
It is when all our chakras have opened, by coming from a place of grace, compassion, for all characters in our lives by seeing it through all perspectives (all seeing “I”), through storytelling, and we will be on the right path.
In honor of the concepts above, I am the storyteller who is patient zero on the non-zero sum game journey of fusing journaling, journalism, with the Hero’s Journey.
